MEET THE TEAM: Q&A WITH DANNY HOOPER

28th October 2018

This month we're talking to Sontay's Factory Manager, Danny Hooper, about his experiences in the industry, advice to stay motivated and the biggest influence in his career.

How long have you worked at Sontay?

I have worked for Sontay coming up to 20 years.

What is your job role?

I oversee the warehouse and production facility. Overseeing manufacturing and warehousing, and insuring that we have to processes in place to meet our high quality standards and your delivery expectations.

What are the best/worst things about your job?

Best things, every day is different. Customers are always setting new challenges for us to come up with a bespoke solution to meet their needs. We have a great team that allows us to achieve this.

Worse thing, I imagine it’s the same with most others, there are never enough hours in the day.

What attracted you to working in the building controls industry?

I was attracted by the opportunity to join an industry to learn and make an impact.

What advice would you give to someone starting out in the industry?

Stay motivated and current.

Who has been the biggest influence in your career?

I’d say that each of my managers have given me the confidence, advice and opportunity to progress in my career, these have all been a big influence.

What five guests would you invite to a dinner party? Dead or alive…

David Attenborough

Stephen Hawking

Will Smith

Steve Jobs

Eminem

What is your favourite book?

Jurassic Park all day, also as a movie.

Who is your favourite musician?

I’m a big fan of Latin music, sounds beautiful though I don’t really have a clue what they’re singing!

What is your perfect holiday? Sun or Snow?

Definitely sun, with lots of exploring and interesting places and things to see and do… and lots of food!
