We are thrilled to announce that we have been selected as a finalist for the Contribution to Training BCIA award. It is a fantastic achievement for us and will be the third time we have been a finalist for this award, which clearly demonstrates the commitment we have to training.
Sontay is celebrating its 45th anniversary this year and for much of this time we have been known as an authority in sensing in our industry. A few years ago, we set up the Sontay Academy to help fill the need for training in what is a niche industry. There are many mainstream courses around that provide background training in electrical work or mechanical engineering but the honed skill of being a BMS Engineer is something there is no easily led path to at the moment.
At Sontay we know a lot about sensing and the BMS industry, so we started to hold CPD courses on subjects that we knew well. We then entered into partnership with the BCIA to offer their BCM training courses to a wider audience. The courses have always been renowned in the industry for giving BMS Engineers the valuable knowledge needed to work in their field and over the last three years we have worked with the BCIA to refresh the courses in terms of the look, feel and updating some content to discuss today’s new technologies. They now offer the same excellent grounding with a further streamlined approach.
Our training is presented by a tutor who has worked in our industry for many years and has a wealth of knowledge and experience. I often see students asking him for advice on projects they are currently working on or applications they need to understand more about. His approach and interaction with students only adds to the experience of anyone coming to the Academy for training and is invaluable.
We are all extremely proud of the Sontay Academy and what it has achieved so far. Our plan is to keep evolving and adding to our training offering so keep an eye out for our future developments. Education is key to bringing more BMS Engineers to our industry which has so many new and exciting technologies coming into it.
