The University of Technology in Sydney (UTS Central) provides yet another success story for Sontay and its innovative range of products, having been successfully installed in over two floors of office space within the university building.

UTS is a university that specialises in technology and is defined by its support for the economic, social and cultural prosperity of its communities. It offers over 130 undergraduate and 210 postgraduate courses across traditional and emerging disciplines such as architecture, built environment, education, engineering and information technology, with impressive facilities that include world-leading research centres and high-performing classrooms and office spaces.

ControlStore, a client of Sontay was tasked with implementing an effective Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning (HVAC) system for two floors of office space within UTS Central Building. As a result of a student's Honours Degree research project, it was determined that the SONet system from Sontay should be specified. Upon comparison with NubelO (LoRaWAN) and Titan, it was found that SONet was the easiest to install, commission and maintain. It was agreed that the SONet system would see higher stability in the future should they move to wireless integration (LoRa). This has now been successfully implemented, with Sontay's latest product, SORA.

Sontay provided its previous wireless solution, SONet along with 22 temperature sensors, eight routers and two BACnet receivers to communicate data straight into the BMA as BACnet objects. Alongside its impressive smart products, Sontay also provided technical expertise in the form of regular site surveys and inspections. Drawings were provided to Sontay with strict criteria for hardware installations, but due to Sontay’s leading expert knowledge in smart building controls, this was not an obstacle.

The system remains stable, reliable and operational, with the SONet system still controlling all air quality within the UTS Central Building. Due to Sontay’s expansive knowledge and market-leading range of devices, the students and faculty at UTS can thrive in an interior environment that is comfortable and healthy.
