This month we're talking to Richard Bonnell our Production Manager about who his biggest influence is and the five guests he would invite to a dinner party.

Q: How long have you worked at Sontay?

A: I have worked at Sontay since 2003 so it will be 17 years this year.

Q:What is your job role?

A: Production Manager

Q: What are the best/worst things about your job?

A: The best thing is working with a fantastic team of people, it sounds cheesy but we really are like a big family here.

The worst thing are the last minute rush jobs  right at the end of the day, thankfully it’s not something that happens often.

Q: What attracted you to working in the building controls industry?

A: To be honest I came to Sontay from a role which was of a similar nature where I worked as a production operative & not specifically because it was in the building controls industry.

Q: What advice would you give to someone starting out in the industry?

A: Don’t do it!!! I’m only kidding.

Listen to your customers, give it your all everyday and do your best to get it right first time.

Q: Who has been the biggest influence in your career?

A: My friend and now ex manager Danny Hooper who gave me the opportunity, encouragement & support  I needed to take on a new role and  progress to the position that I’m in today.

Q: What five guests would you invite to a dinner party?

A: John Wilson (the late TV angling celebrity), Winston Churchill, Mickey Flannigan, Stephen Fry & Angelina Jolie

Q: What is your favourite book?

A: Free Country: A Penniless Adventure the Length of Britain by George Mahood.

Q: Who is your favourite musician?

A: I have a varied musical taste, a lot of which stems from growing up in the late 70’s & 80’s, Phil Collins, Queen & Pink Floyd are among my favourites.

Q: What is your perfect holiday? Sun or Snow?

A: Definitely Sun, you cannot beat lazing by the pool with the Sun on your face & an iced drink in your hand.
